Motorhome Diaries

I'm gonna come right out and say it... if i was 20 years younger and unmarried, I'd be begging to be on the RV known as MARV.

It can't be easy, but it has to be fun.

Meeting all the people along the way must be awesome.

With one exception of course.

The verdict came in on the charges against the MHD crew.

(drum roll)

Fuck. Forget there was a drum roll. The verdict wasn't a surprise for anyone who follows police arrests and the constitutional issues that lead up to those arrests.

The MHD crew was found guilty.

Pete was found guilty of having an unopened beer in a dry county. The beer was in the RV's refrigerator... Pete happened to be driving. Imagine the absolute horror that beer could have caused had it been an OPENED beer! I don't think that Jones County would have ever recovered from it.

Jason was found guilty of resisting arrest. When the RV was stopped, Jason was asleep. He was asked to produce identification, which unless he's the driver or already suspected of having committed a crime... well he doesn't need to show. He declined, as per is his right. The cops pepper sprayed and cuffed him for it. I mean, damn... there was beer on board the cops didn't know about... terrorism starts with beer. Or is it ideas? I get those two mixed up.

Adam was found guilty of disorderly conduct. Hmmm. I met Adam this past Friday. Adam is... disorderly. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean that in the legal sense. He's... hyper. To me, Adam isn't the type to sit still for very long. That's actually a good thing, given the path he's on right now. Adam's crime amounted to holding a video camera that was recording what the police were doing. After Adam, Jason, and Pete were arrested the video on that camera was erased during the time the police had control of the RV and the camera.

I can't speak for the MHD crew, but I'd be surprised if there isn't an appeal.

From my understanding of what transpired... the judge actually reviewed evidence that wasn't presented at trial. Supposedly the judge and prosecutor reviewed video evidence supplied by the police AFTER the defense had rested their case, and the defense hadn't seen.

It was great to meet you and your wife at the Kansas City Meetup! Thanks for your support throughout the ordeal in Jones County. We won't rest until there is Justice but sadly, that may take a while.
